Ingredients
2Green plantain
½tspSalt
⅛tspBlack pepperOptional
⅛tspPaprikaOptional
Oil cooking spray for air frying or baking
Instructions
Frying the Plantain Chips
Peel the plantains and chop them into round, thin, even slices.
Sprinkle the seasoning over each plantain slice and coat well. You can also add this after frying.
Heat enough oil (so that the plantain pieces are swimming in it) in a deep frying pan or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
In batches, fry the plantain chips until golden brown, which should take about 2-3 minutes per batch.
Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil. (If you didn't before, make sure to add the salt immediately)
Air Frying the Plantain Chips
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly coat the plantain slices with cooking spray and arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through, or until they are crispy and golden brown.
Season with salt immediately after removing from the air fryer.
Notes
Though I add my seasoning before frying, there is also the option of adding it after.
