Ackee No Saltfish

Try this vegan ackee recipe as an alternative to Jamaican ackee and saltfish. Cook with no saltfish mushrooms are used instead, making this ackee recipe the best vegan dish.



1 Canned Ackee 150g Shiitake/Osyter mushroom 40g Onion 30g Scallion 50g Tomato 100g Bell pepper 1 Garlic clove Thyme Scotch bonnet pepper 1/8 tsp Black pepper 1/4 tsp salt  Oil

Step 1: Sauté the onion

Heat the oil then add the onion, garlic, scotch bonnet pepper, thyme and scallion and saute for about 3 minutes.

Step 2: Sauté More

Add the tomato and bell pepper and saute other for 2-3 minutes

Step 3: Add Mushroom

Add the mushroom. Cook until the mushroom releases moisture into the pan.

Step 4: Add Ackee

Carefully stir in the ackee.Cook for another 3-4 minutes.

Step 5: Season

Season to liken with salt and black pepper


Serve vegan ackee and mushroom (no saltfish) with your favourite side
